The dream

The story of the Association began with Dawn Elenbaas, a missionary who has been supporting the cause of abandoned children in Romania for 21 years. Working for a long time with the children from the placement centers subordinated to the Timiș Child Protection Directorate, Dawn saw the need for an early intervention day center for children aged 0 to 6 years.

Thus, in 2017, together with Cristian Bulica (financial consultant) and Alina Birgean (educator and adoptive mother of a child with special needs), she founded the Asociația Micile Comori, the legal framework necessary for her dream to become a reality.

.

First steps

In 2019, a suitable location was found, but it was renovated and adapted to the specific requirements of a specialized day center for children with disabilities. The Association also receives the Accreditation Certificate as a provider of social services, and the first project of the Association is created: Day Center for Children with Disabilities Together.

The story goes on

Since 2021, through a partnership with the Social Assistance Department of Timișoara City Hall, the Day Center for Children with Disabilities Together benefits from the subsidy of services provided to customers. The team expands with new professionals, equipped and dedicated to the special mission of bringing to light the little hidden treasures.
